The Amal Carburetter Company has been keeping British bikes on the road for 99 years

by

Formed in 1927 under the name Amalgamated Carburetters Ltd, Burlen Ltd rescued the Amal brand in 2004 from the brink of collapse. We took on all stock, machinery, customers, and the brand name itself, and started the long process of reviving the Amal brand.

Today, we continue to supply Amal products around the world to bikers and classic motorcycle enthusiasts who continue to covet the brand.

Extensively used with classic, British, custom and racing motorcycles, the brand is seeing a modern resurgence and is an excellent addition to any custom bike build or restoration.

Owed to the passion of keeping the famous Amal brand and its legacy alive, Burlen is now continuously developing and expanding its Amal line by bringing the manufacturing of carburetters (Pre-Monobloc, Monobloc and Concentric) exclusively in-house. This allows for even greater tolerance adherence and quality control.

Burlen’s cutting-edge machine shop is located in Salisbury, at an ex-dispersal factory where Spitfire aircraft were assembled during the Second World War, enabling the perfect blend of classic engineering practises with up-to-date modern machining methods to make carburetters of the very highest quality, for classic bike enthusiasts around the world.

Our machine shop now contains 6machines in total, including 2from the global leader DMG MORI. Plus, a brand new 5-Axis Mill with a soon-to-be-installed robot arm from XYZ Tooling.

Some of the Amal products which we now machine, assemble, test, and quality check all in-house include:

…and more.
