Following the decision by the Isle of Man Government Department of Economic Development to review all elements of the Manx Grand Prix Festival, a comprehensive survey has been posted on the official mgpfestival.com website.

The electronic survey features a series of 20 questions and invites feedback on all aspects of the festival including whether people have attended the event, why they attend, how they rate the event and whether they consider it value for money.

The survey, which went live on Friday 27th January, is part of a wide-ranging consultative review to clarify the costs, benefits and future potential that began in December 2011. The survey is designed to evaluate the event and spectator experience while visiting the Isle of Man. The full review is expected to be complete by April 2012.

The Department of Economic Development is also analysing all of the costs associated with the event as well as the event structure, marketing and PR, to be able to thoroughly and accurately evaluate the return on investment that the Festival currently generates for the Island and assess the potential to grow the event. It is anticipated that this will be completed and released by the first week of February.

The results of the survey will contribute to the overall review of the festival’s long-term structure and viability. Opinions are also currently been canvassed, in a series of focus groups, from individuals and associations within the motorcycle industry including sponsors, journalists, competitors, event organisers and officials.

The 2012 Manx Grand Prix Festival, which is scheduled to run from 18th August to 2nd September, will not be affected by the review and will continue as planned. The two-week festival currently includes the Manx Grand Prix Races, the Classic Trial, the Two Day Trial and the Vintage Motor Cycle Club Festival of Jurby and Rally.

Trevor Hussey, Head of Motorsport, Department of Economic Development, commented:

“We are looking for feedback from anyone who may have a valid point of view based on their previous experiences around the event. I would encourage anyone, whether they have attended the Manx Grand Prix Festival or not, to help us with our research so that we can build up an accurate picture of its successes and areas for improvement.”
