Great guy
By: Web Editor
Dear Malc,
I met Alan Carter at the Classic Mechanics Show recently and purchased a copy of his book. Have you read it? What a life that man has had to endure. He signed and dedicated it for me with the word ‘enjoy’.
I did not enjoy the book in the usual sense but I could not, and did not, put it down. It is a book that shows man’s inhumanity to man (father to wives, sons/daughters at that). Alan must be invited as a guest to one of the shows, I feel he has a story to tell. All the best to you all at Classic Racer.

I couldn’t agree more Marti, Alan’s biography is compulsive reading and he is very brave sharing his story with us. I started racing at the same time as his father Mal was still taking part, so have followed the whole Carter story first hand. Alan was one of the UK’s most talented riders and had he been born in a different time would have gone on to real greatness. Alan has agreed to be our guest of honour, alongside Steve Plater at the new Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic show at Newark Showground over the weekend of January 7-8, and will be selling copies of his book there. He’ll also be doing stage interviews on both days. - Malc
