The Classic Racing Motorcycle Club is staging a three-day race meeting at this famous circuit, on 13-15 August 2010, to celebrate Donington Park’s welcome return to motorsport.

The race action is set to be fast and furious, featuring bikes from the heydays of the sport. Remember the classic motorcycles that the likes of Agostini, Hailwood, Tait, Sheene and Grant used to race? Well now you can relive the sights and sounds of Triumph, Norton, Honda, Kawasaki, Ducati and many other famous racing marques at the legendary Leicester Circuit.

Along with the two-wheel action you will also experience some of the closest three-wheel racing ever seen, with 26 sidecar outfits scheduled to take up positions on the grid.

The action as always will be exciting, with full grids and over 50 races and parades scheduled over a packed three-day programme. Racing starts at lunchtime on Friday with among others Chris (Stalker) Walker riding the inaugural opening laps on a factory Norton to officially reopen the Donington Park Racetrack, then it’s straight into racing with the first race featuring the big 1300cc Twins and Multis which promises to be an awesome opener.

The meeting has attracted riders from all corners of the UK, Scandinavia, Belgium, Holland and France, in fact there are even riders from Australia and New Zealand. The programme features rounds of the UEM Cup, ACU UK Championship, the Classic Racer sponsored Wheatcroft Trophy and several National Championship Rounds.

There will be regular Classic Bike Parades along with Lunchtime Parades by the Norton Owners Club and Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club. Norton will have a factory display set up in the pit garages and several other companies have offered to support the meeting.

So Donington has been saved and is open for Motorsport thanks to Kevin Wheatcroft taking time to find the right investors in the Adroit Group, Adroit’s Steve Watton and David Broome have put a team together which have worked tirelessly to get the track back into a state ready for racing and ensure the future of Donington’s association with motorsport for many years to come.

To be part of this historic meeting is easy, simply turn up at the gate, hand over £12 and then sit back and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of real motorcycle racing action.
